Cheerleaders Overcome COVID-19 Restrictions, Hold Annual Cheer Camp

By Charlee Whitfield

Every summer, our Varsity cheerleaders attend a UCA cheer camp, but this year was very different due to Covid 19! July 20th- 22nd of this summer the cheerleaders held a home camp, but during this time we had to follow all COVID-19 precautions and restrictions.

“We wore masks, maintained disances of 6 feet apart, and sanitized a ton,” said Caliegh Broadus. COVID-19 may have restricted many things that we typically do, but we still learned an intense amount of material.

“I’m excited to use all new material at pep-rallies and football games,” said Kayton Trevey. Although the cheerleaders did not get to experience being around other cheer squads, their team chemistry grew. The cheerleaders all had their different opinions on which camp they preferred. “I would pick the destination for the experience, because we get to stay together, and eat some good food,” said Angelica Pantoja, “but this was an awesome time that we got to be together, and we accompished a lot!.”
