Welcome to 6th Grade ELAR!

 

Here is a brief summary of the course description:

 

English Language Arts and Reading for 6th grade course includes all TEKS for ELAR, which is consists of reading, writing, research, listening, and speaking skills. This course provides instruction and practice in reading and writing a variety of genres in order to enhance students' language skills. Comprehension, writing, and research skills are developed through a variety of activities. Students will learn grammar, usage, vocabulary, as well as other English language skills within the context of reading and writing.

 

I personally like to see ELAR as an opportunity to investigate more like CSI of reading and writing "proving" numerous things within various texts as well as in our writing.

 

This class can be a lot of fun however, as I have said often you are the owner of your education, I am here to work with your to help you achieve your educational goals. This year may be your hardest school year yet; but it will certainly be your most rewarding, if you are willing to put in the time and effort that is needed to succeed!!!

There is not a doubt in my mind that all of you have what it takes as I has said before, believe in yourself and keep your end goal in mind and together we will get there despite the obstacles we may face.  Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions and concerns. Hello friends! We survived week one of distance learning- congratulations to you all!
 
First, I want to explain one thing I want you to understand is that although we are doing school a little different and using distance learning for now- you are not alone in this. You still have a teacher and I want to help you whenever you need help or have questions. To reach me you can message me in our Remind app or though our google classroom. If you will leave a number for me to call I will call you as soon as I can to answer any questions you may have.
Together we will all get through this : )
 
This week we will be doing the same type of work and I will have it posted in our google classroom as well as right here. Below you will find a document that you must read it discusses ways to submit your assignments. This is very important to do so that you get credit for your work. If you need help with this let me know.

Weekly Reading and Questions-  (Monday -Thursday)

remember this is the same thing we have been doing all year- please read the text each day and answer the corresponding questions. Don't forget to write in complete sentences.  Be specific in your responses, provide details when needed, evidence is always black and white- it can be found in the text.

 

Weekly Language Review-  (Monday - Thursday)

Again, this is something we have been doing all year long.

Write a brief summary about how you feel about the classwork this week. Please write a minimum of 6 sentences.
